The school dress code may appear to be a small thing, but its ramifications reach beyond the school walls. Policies and enforcement frame how we interact with each other, how we see each other and perpetuate harmful, false stereotypes that perpetuate sexism, racism and classism.
If we are trying to create an inclusive, equitable environment, then we need to reconsider policies surrounding the body.
